“Blijf positief, no metter wat ..."

"The long-term vision"

What do you want in life? What are your long-term goals? What do you put center stage?
Questions that have been on my mind a lot lately. Hard enough as they are, they become even more challenging in the context of a relationship.

I consider a love relationship one of the most challenging endeavors in life. I'll probably not be able to say a sensible thing about it here ... [huh] but let me go for it nonetheless. 😀

At the least it has inspired me to create this painting. As I see it, it depicts two opposites in color, character and sex. But with the same goal in mind: the desire to learn and grow, with a lot of love for each other.

Through the reflections on the surface the path to the sun/light appears to be a straightforward one. But the moment you come close, no clear path exists, but rather lots of water with unfathomable depths. It's an illusion to think everything can be planned out and the future will adhere to your expectations.

To me this painting depicts an eternal moment of contentment and, at the same time, the resolve to keep developing as an individual (respecting your own colors) and grow together. In this ongoing process the (sun)light will hopefully bring to light more and more of the 'blind spots'.
